Or a video illustrating it. Maybe a friend convinces you. For 17-year-old Kara Moloney of Dracut, it was proximity. Once she began working in the kennel at Wignall Animal Hospital, Kara found her love of animals runs deep. Right to her stomach. " They're a big part of my life, " says Moloney, a recent Notre Dame Academy graduate, who plans to begin pre-veterinarian studies at Rivier College in the fall. " I'm going to dedicate part of my life to serving them. So how could I go to work and see these animals and then go home and dig into a hamburger, or chicken? I mean, they're animals, too. There's no difference. " So last September, she made a pledge: She would eat flesh no more. And when the Lenten season rolled around, she decided to take her vow a step further. Now, she's a vegan. She has banned all dairy products from her diet.
