Guest guest
To " Forward Ever " Your question on how to give up sweets is of particular interest to me since I have a major sweet tooth that contributes to my candida problem... I mentioned that I'm following the protocol listed in Gabriel Cousens' " Rainbow Green, Live Food Cuisine " and am finding it very satisfying. My homeopathic MD suggests that if I eat more proteins and veggies (complex carbohydrates), I'll probably find that I'm less likely to feel a craving for sweets - and I've heard about taking in more calcium-rich foods (by the way, those are the green veggies!) Basically, though, I just have to " say no " to sweets. It's just like anything else, the first couple days are rough and then the cravings are less intense. I've been having a great happy time making the raw pies and the raw puddings and eating mostly fruits in the AM and then eating a salad in the afternoon. I read all the raw food diets that prescribe mostly fruit along with greens. My favorite thing to eat in the AM was bananas cut up with mango. These are certainly better choices than refined sugars, etc. and I went from adding honey to the smoothies and puddings to not needing extra sweeteners (my taste buds got used to a less sweet sweet!) But still, for me, I was still having problems with recurrent yeast infections and other things and then I realized that at this point in my life, sugar is sugar and my body is using the sugar to feed those ugly yeasties. So, for now I'm off sweets and am doing an anti-fungal protocol. Gabriel Cousens suggests eating a low sugar raw food diet for 3 months (more or less depending on symptoms) and then going to a rawfood diet that utilizes low- to moderate- glycemic fruits and keeping the high-glycemic fruits for occasional use... But I'm just telling you what is working out so far for me. I think the best thing that I took from this book and from my own gutt, is that each person has to find out what works for themselves. The other most important thing that I can share with you is to do your transitions slowly and carefully. If you have been eating a certain way for several years, take several months or longer to change it. In " pH Miracle " Robert and Shelley Young suggest to take on 1-2 new changes a week or month so your body responds better. So that's my 2-3 cents! Good luck to you! Guest guest
Here are my 2 cents. Sugar is the problem. Before noon, I ate grapes and watermelon. I thought that since these are water based fruit, I was getting the water and nutrients I needed. But, like Linda said, eating fruits in place of sugar doesn't solve the problem. My medical doctor says that grapes are high in sugar and suggested that I eat melons. Well, this screwed me up because the only melon I like is watermelon. And, watermelon is seasonal. So, I tried drinking water to drown out the sugar in my grapes. This seemed to work for a while. Then, I tried acidopholis. This didn't work at all for me. Now, I'm trying MSM. This seems to be working for now. Dr. Afrika recommends Cats Claw and MSM for any health condition ending in " itis " . But, girl, the thing that is missing is the YANG energy. When I had IT I didn't have it! (Note: I have been a vegan for over 10 years. I eat a limited amount of bread, but no salt, sugar, honey, molasses, etc... ) Linda, I'm the lady who asked about the replacement of sugar, honey in your recipes. And, this topic is the reason why. That is, not to mention that diabetes runs in my family. Guest guest
One thing you can do is eat celery and/or lettuce with your fruit. They are ok veggies to combine with fruit and the fiber and other nutrients in them help slow your sugar absorption so you don't have as much of a problem.
