The best way to eat it is w/a big smile on your face, it is so delicious and

juicy. I don't know as far as ripe, although in Jamaica the ones I had were

yellow w/some brown (sort of how a ripe bannanas is) and we just cut it open and

pulled out the flesh, kinda like eating a Durian or mango, messy and well

worth it. I'm going to Costa Rico in a couple of weeks and I'm looking foward

to

some (hopefully it will be in season) and a few other fruits I'll be tasting

for the first time.
