Hi Mark,

 

Thanks for writing this. I'm wondering - how do you stay on the raw food

diet? Do/did you ever get bored with selections? Do you sprout and do

all the dehydrating and complex-seeming recipes? When I'm doing the raw

thing, I feel good, but I don't seem to have the time to do preparations

like in all the books I have. I have 2 young kids and a husband who

don't eat what I eat so I'm preparing foods for them. I try to make some

kind of a seed pate or nut loaf to last a few days and it does, but this

gets very boring. Also salads in the winter time don't always do it for

me. So sorry if this sounds like a complaint but I want to hear how more

experienced raw foodist keep this up so it can give me another perspective.

 

By the way, Mark, I'm so curious to hear more of your experience with

Gary Null. What was that like? Do you happen to know why he doesn't

promote a 100% raw food diet?

 

Thanks for writing! I look forward to hearing from you and am encouraged

by people's stories. Very good to hear about your son's asthma! My

husband has asthma and I'd love for him to eat more live foods... he's

not adverse to it, but also likes having his meat and other things...

Thanks for the encouragement Linda. I really don't eat sprouts, just not appealling to me. I do make some dehydrated snacks on occassion but most of the snacks or dessert we make are refrigerated or we eat them when we make em. My 15yr old son does most of the pies, bannana, coconut orange is his best w/date, brzil nuts and almonds for the crust. I really don't get bored, I enjoy eating and salads are just a small percentage of my diet. Lots of fruits (usually in season) and greens; kale, collards, chard, spinach, watercress, whatever. I like to cut up some red and yellow peppers and maybe some mushrooms and sometimes raisins and stir it w/my greens and make different sauces. Tomatoes, coconut and oranges makes a good base and them some sea salt and maybe fresh dill. We just play around and have fun with it, and laugh at past disasters. I'm fortunate in that both my kids are raw so I'm only preparing raw and their friends like it too (especially the kale). It is helpful to remember during setbacks how far we have come and appreciate that, and own our setbacks and get on with it. From years of addiction recovery in another organization, I learned the importants of not getting comfortable with the crisis and get on w/the business of living. The same applies w.raw food. I stopp putting value on the pecentage raw I am and just be where I'm at now and live a wonderful life in the meantime.

Very cool

I'm interested in the products you took that Gary Null recommended ( I have his CD about hair, skin and nails) and where you got the products-local health food stores?

One of your kids is 15, how old is the other child? I have a 15 year old daughter and a 12 year old son, both carnivores. If the kids go to school are they ok with being raw in the school environment?
