a few questions on fruit

Hello all-

I see a lot of debate on fruit here.

I have a few questions on combining & specific fruits and would like

some simplification as I have had so much opposing info.

1) I have read and heard that MELONS (cantaloupe etc) should be eaten

alone. Yes or No? Also, at OHI they gave Watermelon, yet everyone is

so concerned w sugar- watermelon is the highest sugar fruit there is,

unless it does not count due to the high water content.any thoughts

on water-melon? Grapefruit - David Wolfe suggests a 3 day grapefruit

fast/cleanse, yet I believe Roger has stated he is not a big

grapefruit fan.

2) Many here express concern about fruit due to sugar content - is

this a concern? Should I stick w lower GI fruits (pears, plums, peaches

etc)

3) Roger himself has stated MOST of his calories come from high water

volume fruits - is that oranges, apples etc. (if so, again- aren't

they " sugary " ?)

4) fruit combining? - I have been to retreats (OHI in SD)- they have

food combining charts and classes that even break fruit down into

sweet, sub-sweet, etc. Is this overkill?

** My main concern is weight loss, I am not seeking relief from

cancer so I have no " sugar concerns " (unless that has an appetite

stimulant effect resulting in weight) - I have no parasite problems

which many at my different retreats seem to have had.

I am not interested in Rejuvelac etc...

I am seeking to transition to raw by using Dr Fuhrman's Eat to Live,

but he starts w 4 fruit/day- yet does little if no discussion of food

combining, let alone fruit combining.

More questions to come, but would like any input clarifying the major

aspects of Fuhrman's plan

Thanks!

All foods should ideally be eaten alone. A meal of one particular

food and then at the next meal another food item is simplest and

probably healthiest. I eat a little of various plant foods at each

meal, but usually just one type of fruit.

I believe watermelon " is the highest sugar fruit there is,

unless it does not count due to the high water content. " I like it a

lot and when I have it I overeat it. That's the problem with the

high sugar fruits like grapes, I want to and do eat more than I know

is appropriate.

Someday I may eat only the " GI (whatever GI means) fruits

(pears, plums, peaches etc) " just so I don't feel bad overeating the

excessively sweet fruits.
