Guest guest
Day 2 of a juice fast and am craving salt BAD. Anyone know why? Or know what the remedy is? Please don't say to juice celery. I cannot stand veggie juice so far (though I love veggies!). I juice oranges and grapefruits and only drink minimally when juice fasting. I plan to move to water as soon as I can stand it. Thanks, Susan

Please don't say to juice celery. -- Not celery, because it's not Sodium you require but Potassium. When you're fasting the body's shedding more potassium than sodium and you'll develop a temporary imbalance. After a week or so the sodium loss will catch up to the potassium loss but look for juices that are higher in K than Na. Bananas and potatoes are the usually recommended sources but they don't make very good juices. You might do better switching to master cleanse. rusty - " Susan " <susan_wilkinson <rawfood > Tuesday, January 13, 2004 4:34 PM [Raw Food] Fasting and Craving Salt > Day 2 of a juice fast and am craving salt BAD. Guest guest
Thanks Nicoloas and Rusty. I decided to go straight to water last night. I upped my water intake and the craving for salt is better. Now I'm mostly just tired and hungry. They say this hunger will pass. I'm hoping that's true. There's no way I will live feeling this way (if I don't have to) for a long period of time and I'd like to do a longer fast at some point. For now I'm just hoping to make three days of water fasting. Guest guest
They say this hunger will pass. I'm hoping that's true. - Once the liver gives up on the stomach and the glycogen stores and begins to burn 100% stored fat the hunger fades but the weakeness may set in. This is not necessarily bad if you're able to rest but if you must move about in day to day activities the Master Cleanse would give energy while continuing the fat burning. http://www.supernatural.com/Wavelengths/Ebooks/TheMasterCleanse.pdf rusty - " Susan " <susan_wilkinson <rawfood > Wednesday, January 14, 2004 3:44 PM Re: [Raw Food] Fasting and Craving Salt > Thanks Nicoloas and Rusty. > > I decided to go straight to water last night.
