Guest guest
Hi there -- my name is Amber and I just joined this egroup. I currently live on a US Army base in Germany with my husband and two children (6 and 4). We have been researching raw food for some time now, and have read many great books on the subject. Anyways, Husband has pretty much gone to a 80% raw 20% cooked diet over the past few months, and I am definetly feeling it is time to follow suit. Actually, I am feeling for a time to just do raw all the way (as I think for me it is either all or nothing). Anyways, that is a bit about us -- of course, any tips, hints, etc... would be loved. Also, I would like to know if any women out there have gone all raw while they were pregnant, and how that went (including how their labor was. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Amber Welcome to the group, im also pretty new in here. I live with my man and 2 children in Denmark Europe, im the only raw person in ´the house. I cant help you with experience of going through a raw pregnancy, but im doing it right now and I feel great, (thats when I stick to it) even though I have 2 children and still brestfeeding the youngest (Eleonora 1 year) im less tired then in the begining of the other pregnancyes. I eat mostly fruit vegetables (could almost live just with appels and avocados its so great) and lots of nuts aditionally I eat a vitamin pill a b12 pil and krauterblut wich is iron from plants. Its probably not necesary with pils, but I do not feel it harms either me nor the baby, and I feel good about it. Guest guest
Hi Amber, Pregnancy can be very trying if your body is not really clean on the inside (and that can take years!). I ate high raw vegan but included lots of things I’d previously given up... morning sickness was all day for 7 weeks, but when that atopped the rest was fantastic - loads of energy, no backache, blood & urine tests always good. The labour was pretty painful, 12 hours, but I had a drug-free natural homebirth, baby 7lb7oz. Next time I’ll be better prepared to deal with those first-trimester difficult days! My raw diet now is certainly better than pre-pregnancy. I would say that if you’re wanting to transtion during pregnancy, TAKE IT SLOW (Ideally you should do as much detoxing as possible beforehand). Cut out all junk foods but keep in the starches like rice and potatoes (go easy on the cooked grains though). Drink lots of water to help flush the toxins out. Make sure your diet isn’t too acid-forming (grains, potatotes, nuts, seeds) and ensure you intake plenty of minerals - a green superfood supplement would be good, especially if you can’t stomach greens like many pregnant women. Some say you shouldn’t transition during pregnancy, but personally I think it makes no sense to keep putting rubbish in. Better to eat as well as possible without detoxing too fast. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Thank you Sara for your insight I do plan to " detox " as much as possible before I ever conceive again, but was just curious how other ladies handled their pregnancies. What you said really made sense to me. Blessings, Amber
Guest guest
Since I am living right below you in Germany (ha!), Where do you get Krauterblut? It sounds like something I could find in a health food store here in Bamberg as well. Thanks for letting me know how your pregnancy is going - this is encouraging to me.
