Help! Are pureed soaked dates good subst. for maple syrup in recipe?

Does anyone know if the sweetness is equal in pureed dates and maple syrup?

 

I'm making Roxanne's pad thai recipe right now and I don't want to use maple

syrup (and I don't have honey on hand).

 

So, if the recipe calls for 2 Tablespoons of maple syrup, would I use the

same amount of pureed soaked dates?
