Guest guest
Thanks Bridgitte For the deppression information I don't have any hard data, but I can tell you that raw food has helped my depression immensely. It started to lift about 3 months into eating 100% raw. A *great* book on the subject is _Depression Free for Life_ by Dr. Gabriel Cousens. He's an ivy league trained psychiatrist and a raw food advocate. The book goes into what physical systems can cause depression by being out of balance, and what vitamins/minerals/etc will balance those systems. It's sort of my depression bible - I suffered so needlessly before I read it... Bridgitte
Guest guest
Thanks so much for Your honesty I was starting to think I was the only real addict out here. Rufus how long did this transition take one thing at a time ? Kay Message: 13 Mon, 17 Nov 2003 15:41:35 -0800 (PST) Rufus Shaw <rufus10_99 Re: Start of Fast? & Toothbrushing? Lili, Take it easy on yourself. If you are as addicted to food as I was, it will be difficult to transition all at once. For me what worked was quiting one thing at a time, with one to two week intervals in between. I just felt way too out of control quiting everything at once, or even two things at once. Quiting one at a time was much easier for me. For me, the following order was important. For example, I first wanted to eat raw food, and then quit smoking, but it was a lot easier for me to quit smoking first, gain some weight, then quit sugar, and then transition to 100% raw. I'm not sure what order will work best for you, but I believe that cooked food is addictive (sugar was harder for me to quit then weed or booze), and it is a lot to take it all on at once. The one at a time approach was the way to go for me. It was frustrating, and took a while, and I got fatter before I started loosing weight, but in the long run, it was the only way to go. My order of operations for transitioning to natural foods: 1 Alcohol 2 Weed 3 prescription and over the counter drugs 4 caffeine 5 cigarettes 6 sugar 7 go a whole day 100% raw 8 go 2 whole days 100% raw 9 go a week 100% raw. 10 no turning back. Good luck, Rufus
