I enjoyed reading this article because I want to eat a low fat/high carb diet, and I don't enjoy eating large quantities of fruit. I eat large quantities of fruit compared to most people, but not enough to make simple carbs 80% of my diet. The article is at http://www.newveg.av.org/staffoflife.htm . This article recommends eating starch vegetables raw. I haven't tried this yet, but I will tonight. I have been lightly steaming sweet potatos, and I just read an article on steaming veggies by Dr. Doug Graham: http://www.healthfullivingintl.org/eNewsletters/enews38.html " Article 4: The Effects of Steaming Our Food " I was searching Shirleys site for salt and found some great information: http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/salt.htm I'm not sure what you wrote Peter, I tried searching google and various dictionaries for those words but couldn't find much. There is a controversy on salt because some folks, such as David Wolfe and Gabriel Cousens, include it in their recipes. Other folks, like Doug Graham and Herbert Shelton, say it is toxic. Personally, I prefer Wolfe and Cousens. Mike http://www.newveg.av.org/staffoflife.htm The Staff of Life by Edwin S. Douglas, Founder, American Living Foods Institute The Importance of starch in the human diet is greatly underestimated by many advocates of living food lifestyle. Starch is definitely the staff of life. In this article, we will present our reasons for reaching this conclusion, and contrast the difference in the effect on the human body of fruit foods (simple carbohydrates) and starch foods (complex carbohydrates). Guest guest
Chacqu'un a son gout! translates to each to his own taste. Polyglots will recognise the original as French. My meaning was that those who want and need salt can take it but frankly I never either need it or want it. I guess that nature delivers this vital nutrient in exactly the proportions needed.
