Doug nice post, I would like to discuss just a bit further. Distilled water by

itself does not insure its purity. Distilling water only removes the hard

minerals and toxins that evaporate at a temperature below water. (212-218

degrees) The boiling point will very depending on its purity A good bottler will

use a good carbon filter prior to distilling and after to remove most chemicals.

If you buy it in a grocery store be sure to get it in a clear bottle. The clear

bottles are a harder plastic and won’t leach into the water. Your water should

not have a taste.

Reverse Osmosis is also another good source of pure water. The only thing I

don’t like about this process is it takes 4 gallons of water to make 1 gallon of

filtered. This process creates 3 gallons of wastewater because the membrane the

water passes through has microscopic holes that need to be flushed constantly.

To keep those holes from becoming plugged they use water to flush contaminates

away. In commercial operations this water can be reclaimed and filtered, but in

residential models the wastewater is sent right down the drain. I just wish they

could do something to make these RO systems more efficient.

Distilled water is in my eyes the best value for pure water.

The most common solvent in Chemistry labs is distilled water. It will dissolve

anything over time I have heard. Distilled water is the first thing prescribed

when a patient is diagnosed with Kidney stones. The Kidneys are responsible for

removing inorganic minerals. It only makes sense that when you overrun the

Kidneys with inorganic minerals deposits are going to form. As Doug quoted

though it is impossible for this water to leach organic minerals from our body’s

cells. Pure water is a natural part of our body and plays a very important part.

Oh thank you for correcting me Bernadette when we are born the body is 75% (Not

98%) pure water. As we age this drops to 68% and will very depending on your %

of body fat. A good rule of thumb that I follow when on a fast is half of my

body weight in ounces when on a water fast. I try to keep my activity low, but

if I start feeling poorly a brisk walk seems to do the trick or some breathing

exercises.

My favorite breathing exercise is the 1-4-2. If you’re not familiar with this

here you go. Count the time it takes to take a deep breath in seconds. Hold the

breath for that count times 4. Then exhale the breath times 2 of the first

number. So start with something like this. Inhale for 5-second count, Hold for

20-seconds and exhale for 10-seconds. This will also at the same time make your

body more efficient with oxygen. I first started with this when I started

swimming long distance. You will find that with practice you will be able to

hold your breath well past a minute. Oh be sure when you draw in a breath you

push your stomach out to draw the air deep into your lungs. Always breathe in

through the nose and out through the mouth. Of course this is reversed when you

are swimming.

One other thing that I do when I am water fasting is keep a sample of my urine

from the morning’s first business. I learned this from my first book on Fasting

by Paul Bragg. Keep these in a cool dry place; baby jars are the best thing to

use. Label them as you go and then go back to them as the days go on. You will

notice that there are toxins (Crystals) and mucus forming in them. (The color

will keep getting darker) The most recent will have the darkest tint and the

first one will be the lightest tint. This will give you a visual point of

reference to the amount of work being done. This helps me to mentally keep going

as I can see results. Paul Bragg in the book that I have recommends a 24hr fast

once a week and a 3-4 day fast before the change of each season. He also

suggested an annual fast of 7-10 days once a year. I try to do a 3-4 day fast

once a month. I am thinking of doing a 7-10 day fast around Christmas. I don’t

think the long Fast should be done without experience. I like

to do the 3-4 day more frequently, for me that is the sweet spot and it works

over a weekend well. I have a very high-pressure job and fasting does not go

well with it. (Sorry for the abrupt replies) I can tell you that if you are into

Lucid Dreaming you will have the most vivid dreams you have ever had. You will

also understand why throughout history philosophers, monks and religious leaders

have fasted. I believe that fasting and a raw food diet is a perfect match.

I agree. Mineral water (spring water) is not good.

" To help improve poor vision, only drink distilled water or fresh

juices for liquids. Inorganic minerals from tap and spring waters can

enter the body, filter through the system, and damage the fine

capillaries in the eyes. For more information on this, read Dr.

Norman Walker's book Water Can Undermine Your Health. " David Wolf –

Sunfood Diet Success System.

" If you wish to drink water, you should drink distilled water if it

is available. Mountain spring water is not ideal for the human body,

because it contains inorganic minerals that the human body can

neither use nor precipitate out. These inorganic minerals tend to

hook up with cholesterol in the system and form a thick plaque in the

arteries. Distilled water does not have this effect., when you eat a

piece of fruit or a vegetable, you are consuming distilled water. The

minerals are taken from the soil, the plant distills them, and then

you consume them, you may have heard that distilled water leaches

minerals from the body. That is partially true. The minerals that are

leached by distilled water are the inorganic minerals that the body

cannot use, the effect, therefore, is healthful. Distilled water will

not leach organic minerals that have become part of the structure, it

cannot be leached. " Fit For Life – Harvey and Marilyn Diamond

" The body can use only organic minerals. It is physiologically

impossible for your body to use and inorganic mineral. It simply

cannot and will not do it. Anyone who knows biochemistry and

physiology knows this to be true. It is frustratingly ironic how many

people who should know better fail to recognize this simple fact.

Your body can no more use an inorganic mineral than your car can run

on Coca-Cola.

It's true that chemically an organic mineral is the same as an

inorganic one. But there the similarities cease. The human body

cannot use inorganic minerals—that is, minerals that have not already

been organically processed. Minerals are only usable as they are

found in organic forms of life such as plants, which make up an

amazing link between the soils of the earth an animal life. Would you

go into a gravel pit and pick up a piece of gravel and try to chew it

up? Would you go out and pick up a handful of soil and eat it?

Obviously not. Well, let your common sense answer here. Would you eat

that piece of gravel if it were pulverized into particles small

enough to swallow? Would you eat the soil if it were ground into a

fine powder? There is no deference except in particle sizes. We are

not rock or soil eaters. Your body cannot incorporate rocks into its

cell structure. When you drink water containing minerals, they ore

inorganic. They're finely ground rocks! They have no more virtue in

the human body than if the soil or rock itself were eaten.

So how do we get our organic minerals? Through plant life! Plants

take minerals from the soil and transform them. the plant takes in

carbon dioxide, water, and elements from the earth. It also takes in

sunlight through its chlorophyll and, through the process of

photosynthesis, forms carbohydrates. As the plant grows, minerals

from the earth become organically part of the plant itself. Then, and

only then, can the minerals be assimilated by the human body. "

Living Health – Harvey and Marilyn Diamond.

Notice they say " Plant Life " dead cooked plants do not have organic

minerals. Once the molecular structure and enzymes have been

destroyed through cooking, all nutrients including minerals are

useless.

To have organic minerals in water would be worthless anyways because

they would be just like Vitamins and lack the natural enzymes to

break them down (Not Raw Anyway). You would have to add algae to your

water. The problem with all of this is we were talking about fasting

and the water fast. As I'm sure you know all you want to do on water

fast is hydrate the body not feed it. My point is why would you want

to use anything other than the purest water you could find? You have

shown me some other things in the past and would love to be proven

wrong once again.
