Jenny's reply: Raw peanuts are toxic. peanuts are legumes and not nuts. There are so many wonderful delicious nuts that I've just eliminated peanuts. Do any of you miss eating beans? I know you can sprout them, but a nice bowl of hot black beans is so delicious on a cold winter's day. Aren't beans supposed to be a great source of iron, fiber etc? I know in Eat to Live Dr Joel Fuhrman highly recommends beans with your salad on a daily basis. Don't the live enzymes from all the raw food help digest/utilize the nutrition of the cooked beans? Guest guest
Dear Jenny, I live in a very cold climate. Therefor I DO eat beans and LOVE them. I sprout them first (very important) and then cook then slowly. I eat them only ONCE IN A WHILE cooked. I have found raw, sprouted beans and rice to taste very good. I eat them along with a salad and then I go many more days on just raw again. Only because I enjoy the raw high. I suppose worth a try would be to soak and sprout them, and then heat them in the dehydrator. Guest guest
Thanks for the peanut info, I do try and avoid peanuts too now, since I have heard so many unpleasant things about them. I still eat beans sometimes. Then I'm only two months into my raw journey and so only about 70 raw, which suits me just nice for the moment. I cook mixed beans and put tablespoon sized portions in the freezer, then when I want a bit with my salad, I just have to heat it up. I haven't tried sprouting them first, as all attempts so far have not worked for me. Haven't yet tried Peter's advice on not using the jar, but will work up to it shortly. Love Shell.
