Guest guest
All, I have just found out that Pete has been thrown out of our group. This is the first group I have belonged to, so I don't know what the rules are, but I do know that this was a mean thing to do. Pete only argued with us, becuase we argued with him. Once I got past the arguing, I realized that he has a wealth of interesting things to contribute. He brings an interesting perspective, and we throw him out because he eats raw eggs ? When I first went raw, a lot of my cooked food friends attacked me. They would say " you will never get enough protine " , " You look too skinny " , " your diet is anti-social " When I quit drinking and smoking weed, my drinking and smoking friends attacked me. They said " your no fun anymore " , " come on, I'll buy the drinks " , " you used to be so cool " . I think that these responses are no different from our reaction to Pete. My cooked food friends and drinking and smoking friends felt threatened. If I could quit, why couldent they. This made them feel weak, and question the ramifications of their diets. If they were to accept the new me, they would also be accepting the fact that their diets were not healthy. Just think how we would feel if the raw diet failed us ? I think most of us are eating raw for the health of it. I could not immagin how deperesed I would be if I was to find out that I was grosely deficiant. I don't know if I would have been as clear minded as Pete. He made some minor adjustments, and maintained his healthy lifestyle. Since when is adding raw eggs to the raw diet such a bad thing? I live in the SF bay area, and I know a lot of hippies who shop at wholefoods and tell me how bad the enviroment is, and how important it is to eat organic food, but none of them are as close to being as raw as Pete is. And they are about as full of shit as as you could immagin. In fact I have not met one person here that is even close to raw. Lots of vegies and vegans who smoke weed and think they know everything. there is a raw food place in SF, but no one who works there is raw. My point is, If I were to judge everyone on my crietria, I wouldent have any friends. I would settle for a friend who does not screw up his or her face when I order the organic salad, try to talk me into drinking wine, becuase it's natural. Shame on all of us. I for one, feel like a jerk. I hope this does not get me banned from the group. Rufus
Guest guest
When the word slinging started I first wondered why the moderator didn't step in. However, as I thought more about it, I decided maybe it was good he didn't. We live in an imperfect world and we need to learn how to get along with each other - not expect to be babysat and coddled. I'm with Rufus. I don't think Pete should have been thrown out. ~Wendy
Guest guest
Actually I think Pete's information was quite interesting. I wished he could have kept it to information instead of personal attacks. He wasn't thrown out for the fact that he eats raw eggs. He might need it. Most of us are quite damaged and sometimes beyond being able to be successful on a vegan raw food diet. But these are special cases. I believe that most people can be very successful on a low fat vegan raw food diet. I had no way to communicate with him directly. He didn't leave an email address. Please don't assume you know everything that is going on. Pete simply has an attitude problem. I've seen his posts on an other board and he caused the same kinds of problems. But he has to have more respect for others and the moderators when he posts here. No Rufus, you won't get banned because you were fairly respectful in your post. Even if you don't know all of the details. Pete mainly lacks tact in his posts. I wish him well. Please don't feel that you really have to watch yourself on all of your posts. Just try to be nice. That is the main thing. Thanks, Roger
Guest guest
I belong to several raw groups, 3 where Pete has been (and is not any longer, which makes 4, and one other I heard of but don't belong to so can't say for sure what happened). His information can be interesting, but get tiring quickly as it is so repetative. His delivery and attitude leaves no room for interjection, and it gets worse and worse as time goes on. It starts out this way and over a few weeks Pete gets meaner and meaner, more disrespectful, calls more names, and on and on. You don't have to believe me, but you can go search archives. In fact one moderator closed a group completely, mainly because of the hostility that only was visible after Pete arrived. I for one am glad he is gone. I do wish he was able to agree to disagree and be hospitable and respectful. I believe everyone has a right to their opinion and beliefs, but they do not have a right to constantly try to drive their beliefs down other peoples throats. I appologize for being the one who started the fight in the first place. Monte -- In rawfood , " Roger Haeske " <roger@s...> wrote: > Actually I think Pete's information was quite interesting. Guest guest
Hi I remember Pete from another raw foods board as well. Apparantly he eats 100% raw fruits & vegetables and all he has added in to combat B-Vitamin Deficiencies is raw egg yolks and for that people were vicious towards him. I think he became combative due to his treatment on other boards. I do understand that because eggs are animal products they may not go over well on a raw VEGAN board. I just kind of wish Pete could start a group that was based on a 100% raw diet that included raw egg yolks & maybe raw goats milk. I think they (especially raw egg yolks) could be the missing ingredient that could help people stay 100% raw w/out deficiencies and cravings, drastic weight loss etc. thanks nicky
