Dear 'Preciousspark33'

I can only speak for myself, but I like to keep it simple and I've found

drinking a pint of juiced veges twice a day, eating raw fruits, some raw

nuts and seeds, a couple tablespoons of ground flax seed and enjoying a

big supper salad will fill my nutritional requirements.

I too think that A LOT of RAW dark green leafys of different types are

crucial for health. From what you wrote RAW greens may be your big

missing ingredient--especially for protein, iron and folate (foilage).

For your health's sake DO NOT STEAM GREENS!!!

Do you juice veges? Juicing has been key and crucial to me. The fiber is

removed so the juice quickly bypasses my broken down digestive system and

floods my cells with nourishment. Ahh!

I am a mother of 8 and my youngest is a 5 month old nursing baby. I have

plenty of breastmilk and my baby is fat and happy and extremely alert and

active. He has BEAUTIFUL silky soft skin!

The detoxing is not fun, but I'm glad to get those toxins out! From what

I understand things get pretty bad sometimes before they get better. You

may lose too much weight but then you'll gain back healthy tissue till

you are your ideal weight.

Studies show that about 1/2 people in the U.S. die from heart disease,

1/4 die from cancer. Another portion (I don't know the percentage) die

from complications of diabetes. All food related!!!

We raw foodists don't eat like most people, but I don't want to die from

one of these diseases like most people! As I heard said, " Who wants to

dig their grave with their knife and fork? "

Reading helped me gain a base of knowledge or a belief system which I can

now act upon without fear or confusion. It has been important for me to

understand how to nourish myself and why I should eat this way and what

is happening to me when I'm detoxing. I think otherwise it would be

bewildering.

Reading over 3 dozen websites on raw foodism and asking these folks for

reading recommendations and asking questions has helped me a lot. I like

reading about Natural Hygiene which has been around a long time. I love

reading about amazing health benefits that people have gained, truly

miraculous experiences of healing and how raw foodists die from surfing

in their 90's!

After only 2 months I no longer have to use deoderant, my tongue is

perfectly pink and uncoated, my emotions are more stable, my skin is

soft--even my elbows, my fingers and back aren't crackly and

pre-arthritic, I have crystal clear thinking, I've lost 30 pounds,

depression has lifted, and best of all I no longer have bouts of

emotional overeating or sugar cravings. I am satisfied by the raw food I

eat. My appestat is working again! Now cooked food (especially meat)

looks disgusting.

Many people do everything their medical doc tells them to do and then

when that doesn't work they try raw foods as a last resort. I have kept

pretty quiet about my new raw food journey (65 days now) because when I

went on the Hallelujah Diet for 2 years in 2000 and 2001 I had people

tell me everything that I would be deficient in. (While they continued on

the Standard American Diet SAD.)

Their concern struck me as SO weird because before that, when I ate big

bowls full of ice-cream and indulged in chocolate candies and cookies (at

60+ pounds overweight!), no one expressed a bit of concern about my

health!

Back in 2001 I read all the garbage (in my opinion now) about

deficiencies, babies that become limp noodles etc. and I too got fearful

and confused. I started eating eggs and a little meat and grains and soon

felt sluggish, gained weight and got foggy brained. On July 9, 2003 I

read a friend's recipe book for all raw eating and KNEW it was the way to

live for the rest of my life.
