Guest guest
B " H I just tried the most amazing fruit. It is called p'tayah(not papaya) in Hebrew, but I don't know the English name of it. The fruit is about the size of a grapefruit, but more oblong. It's got a rather thick, smooth, brilliant, hot pink skin with brilliant green leaf-like extensions on it. (No, I wasn't eating an unfamiliar mushroom before seeing the thing.) The white flesh is very juicy, but well-nigh tasteless. It is studded with small black seeds that aren't bothersome when eating the flesh at all. A bit disappointed that the fruit has almost no taste I froze chunks of it and had it with other frozen fruits in a mixed fruit freeze for breakfast. The flesh peels completely away from the skin effortlessly, leaving the skin intact. If halved the skin would make a novel serving bowl for smaller fruits - leechees, cherries, berries or balls of melons would be lovely served thus. It would be most noteworthy at any dinner party, I'm sure. What *is* that thing? Doreen
