Guest guest
The Joy of Exercise: I want to share with you the importance and benefits of a regular exercise program. Just a reminder that we have a raw food support group meeting in New Jersey at the George St. Co-op this Tuesday evening from 8 to 10pm in which we’ll be discussing the importance of exercise as well as discussing raw food issues. Email with meeting details to follow. Enjoy the below info and links to valuable and free stuff. A raw food diet is the most important thing you can do for your health. The second most important thing and something that should not be neglected is doing regular and vigorous exercise, sports, dance or games (like tag) that somehow exercise your physical body. I highly recommend cross-training to hit all the fitness areas and so that you get better results and peak performance. I encourage you to find ways to make exercise fun. It can be fun if you ask yourself how to make it fun. I used to hate lifting weights. I loved sports but not exercise. Now I love exercise for itself without having to attach a sport to it. Exercise Benefits: 1. Help with depression, exercise releases endorphins. You get a natural high. 2. Lower blood pressure 3. Make's you warmer in the wintertime 4. Increase your metabolism for up to 15 hours after a workout 5. Weightloss: A pound of muscle burns 75 calories per day and a pound of fat only 2. 6. Aerobic exercise for over a half hour burns mostly fat and again it raises your metabolism 7. Exercise helps with detoxification as well. I think it is one of the keys to staying young. Exercise is one of the best ways to make your lymphatic system go to work. This is your cellular garbage disposal system. Only exercise and deep breathing make the lymph system flow. 8. Increase the oxygen levels of your blood. The more oxygen in the bloodstream the greater your resistance to all sorts of disease including cancer. 9. Keeps you young: Almost all the tennis pros I worked with look very young. Even if they eat poorly. I believe this is because of all the exercise they get. 10. Increase Strength, flexibility and endurance 11. Look better by improving your appearance 12. Increase your self-esteem by knowing that you are doing something good for yourself. 13. Improve mental function: Several studies show that playing tennis will improve mental function. 14. Lung capacity increases and therefore your lifespan increases as lung capacity is directly related to aging. 15. Increased bone mass, less likely to experience osteoporosis. 16. Running and trampolining relieve constipation. Just try it out and you'll see. 17. Increase insulin sensitivity in all and reduce the insulin dosage needed for diabetics. I’d start slowly. You want to learn to enjoy it. If you push yourself then you may not develop the habit. I started my regular workout routine because of pain I developed in my legs from sitting all day doing data entry. Daily exercise with heavyhands eliminated the pain. <http://www.mercola.com/1999/archive/exercise_fights_aging.htm> http://www.mercola.com/1999/archive/exercise_fights_aging.htm and hypertension and much more. Ultimate Workout for Athletes & Real Strength: (No Equipment: Can be done anywhere) Here is a workout I've been doing for about a month. I just love working out like this. I don't need any equipment and this workout gives me functional strength throughout my whole body. I've added 4 pounds of muscle and at the same time I am building strength in my knees and stretching and strengthening my spine. But I really like this because it gives me real strength that I can use in sports. It's a kind of workout that has been used by world class wrestlers and martial artists for centuries. The results are truly amazing. One of the secrets is that it doesn't isolate muscles but uses many muscles at the same time. Isolation exercises can produce a lot of injuries and the body doesn't use muscles in isolation. For best results we want to use many muscles at a time. So here is how you can find out about the most awesome workout I know of yet. I recommend getting the videos if you can because it gives you much more insight into the techniques than the book alone.http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/aftrack.asp?AFID=93149 Free and public domain workout courses: This is truly an awesome and free resource. I've found some very useful and interesting exercises in there. http://www.sandowplus.co.uk/Competition/compindex.htm To Your Radiant Health, Roger Haeske Have you tried the Raw Diet many times but failed to stick with it? If intuition says a raw diet is not the right approach, why would you push an issue that is not in a person's best interest? Fred
