Guest guest
Hello Group, I am new to this forum and waiting for delivery of the books I ordered on Raw foodism. I have some questions, however and hope you can help me with them. I am single so when I go to the store to buy vegetables, I end up with a large quantity of them so that I have a variety to choose from. This means that I need to store them for a period of time in the fridge before they are all used up. So far, I have been leaving tham in the plastic bags I gather them in at the store. I've noticed that certain vegies like cucumbers or zucchini don't do too well in the bags. How do you store your vegies? I have humidity controlled bins in my refrigerator and don't know how to set the humidity for best results. Anyone got any tips or hints on how I can manage to preserve the quality of my produce for as long as possible? Many thanks, Sharon B. Guest guest
Sharon Many years ago I served on those great white passenger ships that sailed the world. Vegetables were stored at 40 degrees Farenheight. I remember the ventilation officer telling me that it was important to avoid any fluctuation in temperature. The circulation of air in all storing was considered important. As I recall we could keep a lettuce fresh from Japan to Hawaii which was 11 days. Upshot is that you should be OK for quite a few days with a refrigerator with the wrapping removed Hope this helps Sharon Butler [norahsb] 08 July 2003 19:00 rawfood [Raw Food] How to Store Vegetables Hello Group, I am new to this forum and waiting for delivery of the books I ordered on Raw foodism.
