" But after about 8-10 months on a mostly raw foods diet, my fingernails became very soft - to the extent that when I scratched myself, the tips would bend backwards. I started taking a silica and horsetail supplement about 6 months ago and have seen some improvement, but they are still relatively soft. You don't need a supplement if you are a raw foodist, but those who cook their food are evaporating the MSM out of it.
