Guest guest
Hi, What would you recommend taking for a good spring cleanser? I've tried a herbal detox before but would like to stick to fluids and whatever else would be helpful. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
> What would you recommend taking for a good spring cleanser? - Hi Val. First clean the liver. Dandelion root, Burdock root or Yellow dock are good herbs. I prefer a combination tea of Dandelion root and Milk thistle seed, to both cleanse the liver and restore optimum liver function. Note that if you use whole milk thistle seed you'll need to crush it first. I use a coffee grinder and give it a few bumps, just enought to break the seeds open. Those dandelions in your lawn will do. Just clean the roots and chop them fine berfore making the tea. Secondly clean the gastro intestinal tract. Bentonite clay and psyllium husk will draw the toxins and impacted matter from the intestinal walls and oat bran will sweep it through. With all fibre it's important to have both the mop and broom [soluble and insoluble.] Finally the best detox and cleaning of all is a water fast. If you plan to do more than 4 days on a water fast, plenty of rest is required. If that's not convenient, try one day with just water and a little bit of fresh squeezed lemon juice, unsweetend of course. rusty - " mvdube " <mvdube <rawfood > Saturday, April 19, 2003 6:38 PM [Raw Food] Spring cleaning > Hi, > What would you recommend taking for a good spring cleanser? My sister just died and between the Wake, the Funneral and then Easter coming only 3 days later without her I have been doing so much damage to myself from drinking wine and smoking cigarettes and eating enough addictive foods to kill a horse. Ironiclly these are the things that she hated most and would probably be extremely disappointed in all of us especially me. As of today I'm back on the wagon with more motivation than ever now because I'm doing it because I really owe her. Now my question is when I get the dandilions do I use the flower as well as the roots and the stems and do I have to dry them out or can I just throw them into some boiling water? Guest guest
Eric: The root is the best cleanser, but the leaves make a nice salad too with some cleansing properties. The root becomes very hard when dried out so I would advise using immediately. I just chew on the root. Althought it's bitter, I can feel good effects from it immediately. BTW, If you add chemicals to your lawn, other than basic N-P-K. don't eat those roots. For tea just pour boiling water over the chopped up root and let steep 10 minutes. If you are a 100% raw foodist, the boiling water may be counter productive so just eat the root. rusty - <Cloningewe <rawfood > Sunday, April 20, 2003 9:21 PM Re: [Raw Food] Spring cleaning > In a message dated 4/20/2003 4:25:44 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > rustym writes: > > > Those dandelions in your lawn will do.
