Siri (and anyone else who feels this applies to them):

Where are you?

I started a club earlier this year (a net discussion forum like

this one) that never got off the ground. It was the vegetarian

adverturers club (I knew the list would be limited enough, so I

didn't want to rule out non-raw vegetarians).

I have plenty of friends and acquaintances with whom I can bike,

run, rock climb, ski, etc. and know plenty of folks who are

vegetarian or vegan. (We have two large clubs in the metro area.

We also have a raw food restaurant that hosts a support group,

and it's only five miles from me).

Nonetheless, I've never found more than one friend who does

both: that is, one who participates regularly in a sport,

whether it be endurance, adventure, or even indoor stuff like

just going to the gym and also cares more than the average

person what goes in their body for fuel.

I sure would like to know that someone else out there who works

out also eats healthy, and vice versa. Oh sure, lots of people

eat a " Balanced " diet, and include vegetables every day. I don't

personally know many who eat at Krispy Kreme for breakfast and

McD's for lunch every day (although I have no doubt lots of

people do).

It wouldn't matter SO much except I so often find myself having

to grapple with money issues when I go on a trip for the weekend

with people. They often want everyone to chip in the same amount

for the food, I end up having to pay for their food (and alcohol

sometimes!) and still provide my own for me! I've been on all

day bike rides where the food was so offensive, and the ride

area so remote, I just had to go without!

Ever have this problem?

I'm about to do a juice fast for a week, and was also concerned

about the energy consumption. I can go for Christmas week

without " exercise " but am concerned because my job is not a desk

job.
