Guest guest
Hi everybody, I just bought an Excalibur 9-tray food dehydrator and am VERY EXCITED. I would love some input on dehydrating pineapple, which is one of my favorites. I have no experience whatsoever with dehydrating food. Thanks ~ Jeanne
Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, since I buildt my own dehydrator after a instruction in the " Dry it you'll like it! " book by Gen MacManiman (strongly recommended!) I've become quite familiar with it. Just cut your Ananas into slices as if you would eat it fresh, maybe max 1/2 inch in thickness. Now just dry it until you like the consistency. Try it! I love to experiment with cheap (ask for discount) ripe (they have to be almost totally black and soft) vegetable bananas. You surely get them at your next Asian market, where they usually are sold green for cooked people :-) You will need Teflex sheets to make this. 3 bananas 1/2 cup dried fruits like raisins or apricots 1/4 tsp Vanilla 1/2 tsp lemon or orange cest Blend all in a food processor. Spread on a Teflex sheet and dry it as long as needed. This makes a good fruit leather. For un-cookies add: 1 cup ground almonds or other nuts 1-2 Tbs raw carob 1 tsp cinnamon Love Scoop with a teaspoon onto you dehydrator trays. You may garnish them with nuts, poppy seeds... Have fun!
