Guest guest
Hi, As you may know from my posts, I've been a raw foodist for almost 2 years. I was 100% raw for just about a full year of that time (about 11 months). Lately,i've been backsliding...for instance, i had started drinking coffee again after two years of being off of it. I only drank it for a month before i realized i couldn't stand how i felt with caffeine in my system. I'm off of it again. I also moved to a big city, and therefore away from my raw friends, and have been finding it difficult to stay 100% raw since i no longer have the support system i once had. My husband is not raw...not even vegetarian (a real problem since i hate having animal products in my home), so that doesn't help. I've also started a graduate program and am under a lot of stress and i don't have a lot of time for raw meal preparation. One problem I know i have is that i deal with stress by eating. I'm still trying to figure out how to stop that behavior. Anyway, all of this blabbering is to ask how all of you cope and yet remain raw in a very cooked world. Guest guest
I think we need to remember that we are human and to get down on ourselves for not being " perfect " is wrong. I don't know many people that eat raw except the small following that I've been preaching to. It's plain old hard to be around aromatic cooked foods without eating some. I continually struggle with it. I try to remind myself that I'm not like everyone else and I've chosen to eat the foods I do. I also try to think of how awful I'll feel after eating that junk. It usually helps me to stay on path. Once in awhile I have a cup of coffee or eat a piece of chocolate. I usually get immediate symptoms and fatigue. It sets me right back on path. I personally haven't committed to 100% raw yet. I'm about 90%, but I know what I need to do. It's just a matter of time, but BOY-OH-BOY it's like that little tick that won't come off. It's a very difficult thing for me to do! Guest guest
Muktabhimani; If your diet is out of balance, cravings will be unbearable. You must balance your diet. Read Sun Food Diet Success System by David Wolf, and pay particular attention to the " Sun Food Triangle " . This will balance your diet. You will be able to sit right beside your husband while he eats a cheese burger with no cravings. In fact his food will begin to smell bad to you. This book saved me from back sliding, my lady-friend is also not raw. Also Sea vegetables do a lot to stop cravings. Most of what we crave are minerals, sea veggies are loaded with minerals. Until you get your book concentrate on eating equal amounts (by approximate dry weight) of sweet fruits, green leafy vegetables, and raw fats (avocadoes ), non sweet fruits, tomatoes etc. are neutral. Do not trust cold pressed Olive oil to be raw, most is not. Any oil that is not sold refrigerated in a dark bottle is not raw. Hope this helps; Doug
