Guest guest
At the end of last week's Newsweek with the flat football on the cover, Anne Underwood p66., applauds the consumption of red berries. Given red berries of all kinds are getting so much praise as anti-toxidants, I wonder whether the glass of wine falls into the same category;it too comes from red berries Any thoughts on the subject? Guest guest
Peter; I think I read somewhere that red wine has a lot of antioxidants. Other than that I went to a typical Hawaiian party last night (had a little red wine). Outside, lots of Hawaiian food most of it was cooked. There was a Hawaiian lady there, who is very knowledgeable about Hawaiian plants. She brought some greens to be cooked. The plant is called ho'i'o pronounced Hoh-ee-oh. It is a FERN. Also called asparagus fern. It is not delicious raw but it's not bad. What is surprising about it is; it's oily! This thing is loaded with raw fat. I don't think anyone in the raw food world knows about this plant. I will try to find out more about it. Guest guest
Doug Always interesting to hear about foods with fats. Ferns from Hawaii need a special climate; you may be onto a whole new rage! Food of the dynosaurs! On an old subject, I have a freiend who keeps bees and he maintains that he makes raw honey! Certainly he uses no heat in his production.
