Guest guest
For the past five days I have been doing completley raw foods (mainly fruit) well last night my husband was talking about going to subway and getting himself a nice veggie delight sandwich. He made me crave it so bad I begged him to take me there and get one. Not only did I eat that but I also ate 4 chocolate chip cookies. The craving for cooked foods took me over and made me become practically a raving luinatic to my husband. I was on my knees begging him to buy me some cooked food. Why did i feel this way? Why were the cravings so STRONG? I want to break free of this? I plan on starting my raw food again today and trying to go an even longer span without " relapsing " . I feel like we need a cooked food eaters anonymous or something. This must be just as hard as people who are alchololics to give up alcohol or cigarettes. The cravings can get unbarable. How can I better deal with these without giving in to them? Thanks, Amy
Guest guest
I suggest the craving comes from a lack of something. My guess is vegetable fats. Try eating a few avocados and if the craving is still there you know the problem must be somewhere else! Try soaked nuts for example. From my own experience of going rawfoodist, there were cravings which were in the background and received no serious attention. No doubt they make the next meal more wanted. Hope this helps but in the end you should hit the target. PG femmebabe19 [no_reply ] 15 March 2002 11:45 rawfood [Raw Food] Can I still do this? Guest guest
It sounds to me like you are not getting enough carbohydrates. If you are craving sweets that means you need to eat even more fruits. I used to have the same exact problem. I would go raw and then after a while I would crave chocolate, cookies and candies. Well what are they but mostly carbohydrates. Now I finally figured it out and I don't have the cravings anymore. I eat at least 60% of my calories in carbohydrates. I especially eat lots of bananas since they are very calorie rich. Once I get enough fruit sugar the cravings are gone and I have loads of energy to go on with my day. All your needs can be met by the raw food diet. It just takes time to transition. Realize that you have to eat much more food by weight when eating raw because you are now consuming so much water in your foods. Good luck, Roger Haeske P.S. Thanks, Amy Amy, Try not to be so hard on yourself. You are just beginning to do raw and 5 days of raw is not very long. It's good but a beginning. Some people won't agree with me, but if your cooked food had alot of salt in it, you would naturally crave sweets because salt and sweets are opposite. I learned that in macrobiotics (I think it was there, anyway.) That's why a bland diet is better. What you can do is just start over again. I am not sure if Subway has alot of salt in their subs or not. Just a suggestion. Marlene
