Guest guest
Hi folks! I've been a strict vegetarian for several years and had been reading about raw foodas for awhile. I kept thinking I should eat more raw foods but found the idea of a raw lifestyle extreme. Well, I aso help care for my elderly mmother who sufferes from dementia, diabetes, congrstive heart failure and high blood pressure. Her doctor mentioned there might be some chance of colon cancer but she refuses to be tested for it. I did not want that to be me at that age. When my own blood pressure started getting high (Along with my weight) I decided it was time to stop reading and start doing. For the past two weeks I have been doing 2-3 raw days a week and have seen my blood pressure go down from 149/90-something to 129/80- something. My husband still likes a S.A.D. but eats what I prepare. He does like big salads, so he says he has no problem with me going more raw. I noticed on cooked days I seem to eat everything in sight without end. Like eating cereal and soy milk vor breakfast leaves me wanting more. Raw days I eat soaked grains and fruit for breakfast and snack onfruits and veggies through the day. But I do not feel like the shark from the Jaws movie (feeding frenzy). Just ordered a raw foods recipe book, since I just make big salads for the rest of the day and know there must be more to raw foods than salads. Would welcome any advice and hearing from anyone who would like to correspond with a beginner on this path. BTW, can I eat eggplant and fresh okra raw, and if so, how are they prepared? -Michele, Northwest Florida
