Guest guest
Im actually eating Raw and doing fine...It's been nearly a week, and so far when I eat a little cooked food at night I feel I couldve reaaly gone without it.

Here's a question for you longtime or knowledgable raw fooders:

I LOVE Mexican food and would love to get that spice and flavor in my food. I tried making my own Salsa tonight and it was a disaster. It was basically soup, which wasnt so bad it just had NO flavor! Nothing like my local mexican restaurant. *lol*

I used " Hydroponic " tomatos because there were no organic available. How do you guys feel about Hydroponic produce?

Also does anyone have any advice for tasty mexican foods being a raw fooder? I LOVE spicy food and I know I will miss it terribly if I cant recreate something close.

Thanks a bunch!

Christie
Charleston, SC
Guest guest
Can I really relate to your love of Mexican food.

I have been able to buy excellent raw salsa, but I'm sure there are some excellent recipes for it on the web. I think some key ingrdients for it besides tomatoes are onion, cilantro, lemon or lime juice and Real Salt.

For good mexican, I mix and match the following items.

Avadado
Cummin
Real Salt
Combo Sprouts
Alfalfa Sprouts
Oat Flakes
Salsa
Wild Rice - Soaked for a day or two
Raw cheese

Ground Cummin is the key ingredient for that Mexican flavor.

I find this so good, I prefer it to eating at the Mexican restaurants, and I feel much better afterwords. Guest guest
Try mixing a hot pepper in with your dark green leaves. I find the effect delightful. A clove or two of spicy garlic is another variant but not as good. A good idea to have an avocado on hand in case you overdo the Chilli peppers. Guest guest
Hi Christie,

I love swapping recipes! It's funny--I've never made salsa or guacamole any other way but raw, though I never thought of it that way. Anyway, I looked around online and found some easy-sounding recipes that happen to be raw, as well as some complicated-sounding recipes from rawfoodnews.com

I will post them all shortly...

Carol
