Guest guest
Hey everyone,

Not sure if anyone's interested, but I thought I'd update you on my testing of the raw food diet.

After 2 2/3 days, we decided we couldn't hack it, not completely. On the second day, I felt weakened while working out. We were eating constantly but were constantly hungry. So we decided to have a cooked meal on the night of the third day. That helped with the energy a lot, so we decided we'll continue on with being raw all day until dinner, and then having one cooked meal per day.

I feel like I learned so much just from three days. I found that I truly enjoy eating raw during the day. The rush of energy from all those unadulterated nutrients is so great! Plus I feel much lighter. The problem is, by the end of the day I feel too light; almost empty.

The fact that I was eating so much and feeling so unfull made me really examine how much cooked food I actually need to eat. Last night I ate a much smaller meal than I'm used to, and felt completely satisfied. This diet made me realize the extent to which I overeat. I don't know how I stay thin, thinking about it that way!

Also, raw food was COMPLETELY effortless to digest! Except for a little gas the first day, I noticed my stomach was calmer than it had ever been (and I'd never thought it was that active). That made me think that I've been overtaxing my digestive system most of my life.

The fruit and vegetables kept me so hydrated that I barely drank any water. After my cooked meal, I had to drink about four cups of water to feel like I did just eating straight fruits and vegetables. The only good thing about the cooked meal was that it got rid of that gnawing hunger, and I was much stronger during my workout.

My girlfriend agreed with me on most points, which surprised me since she's attached to dairy. We're going to continue this through the two weeks, and then we'll examine what we think again. But I know that I will be eating a lot more raw food than I used to. It would probably take some doing to sustain the diet 100%, but the benefits of going about 50% seem like a no-brainer, even for busy career girls like us.
