Guest guest
Save for a cup of black coffee each day (I know, it's " poison " ) I managed to stay at virtually 100% raw until the 5th day where I slacked off a bit. I think what derailed me was I kept getting pretty intense cravings for something salty, which later morphed into wanting something salty and cooked. I tried putting sea salt on my avocadoes, but it still didn't quite do the trick.

I ate a small amount of chips and roasted nuts on the 5th day, then did a bit worse on day 6 where I ate quite a bit of raw fish, but also consumed rice with it (at the buffet, you could eat all the fish you wanted, but you had to also consume the small chunk of rice with each one).

Back on the wagon now, its day 7 and I've been raw all day and feel fine. I'm not going to let a couple small screw-up's discourage me, I'll just keep on trying until my system has had time to stop desiring cooked foods. I also have David Wolfe's Sunfood Success System book in which he has some recipes including " transitional " menus, so maybe I'll resign myself to eating occasional small amounts of (not too unhealthy) cooked foods to get beyond the cravings for junk.

Interestingly, I weighed 77 kg the day I started and weighed 74 and 75 kg respectively on day 6 and day 7 (probably eliminated slow moving junk from my intestines). Also interesting that most days I ate a LOT of food; I brought a whole grocery sack full of apples, avacodoes, pineapple, oranges, raw nuts, salad, and consumed something about every two hours to try and remain feeling " satisfied " . Actually, today, I spaced out my " meals " to about 4 hours apart and I actually feel better and still generally " satisfied " .

I've seen the mountain top! Only problem was I was jonesing for salty french fries! Well, I got a little taste of paradise, and I'll keep coming back until I get to enjoy her warm, moist, tender,... Oh heck, I think I'm getting delirious again. Will post back in about a week.

Mallon

P.S. Blake: A long time ago you wanted the reference for the study about calves not being able to survive on their own mother's pasteurized milk. The reference is cited in Natures First Law: Raw Food appendix. If you don't have the book, let me know and I'll email the reference to you.
