Guest guest
OrionsDad, Doug, Victor and all,

I'm pleased to tell you all that after spending about the last 3 years as a voyeur on this club - i.e. occasional poster, but not raw - I finally took the plunge and set myself a short-term goal of going at least 90% raw for 90 days (I call it 90:90). I previously had a general goal about the last 4 years of at least 50% raw, which I think has been helpful, but certainly not enough to get the full benefits. Plus I had a lax attitude about it.

I picked 90% so I don't have to nit pick over worrying if a tiny bit of salad dressing is raw or not, or that sort of thing. Better than shooting for 100%, then getting disappointed at one small screw-up. I also picked 90 days to make the goal more attainable, and so that I don't feel (even though i intuitively know better) that I'm shutting myself off permanently from any future cooked food possiblities. I'll simply reset my goal after 90 days; maybe up it to 95% for another 3 months, and so on.

I've got a friend, with a goal he's working on, to liaise with for healthy peer-pressure, and support. Interestingly, I have an avid meat eater friend who, after pressing me on the issue and hearing me quote many of the obvious benefits of raw, now acknowledges that its something he'll probably delve into in the near future. Plus after reading the Wolfe/Arlin books on the subject, and probably close to 100% of the posts on this board over the years, I'm probably as informed as anyone else starting a raw diet.

I'm keeping a journal and will post comments occasionally, particularly if I notice anything significant or have any questions that I'haven't found answers for.

P.S. Victor: Don't give me any crap about Americans following fads or the fact its just after New Years day. The date is a total coincidence ;-)

Mallon
