Guest guest
I know of several raw fooders in my area and all of them are certainly healthier looking than the average Jane/Joe. Myself, I keep trying to implement more raw foods into my diet, however it's a struggle to even eat 50% raw on a regular basis. I don't say that to discourage anyone, but it's tough for me.

I also think the much touted 100% raw goal is for most people unrealistic, though for some it may be quite possible and very worthwhile. I'll tell you why i think that.

There's two sides to the " argument from popularity " that one hears from the healthfooders, who are fond of saying that modern folk's eating habits are corrupted by processed foods, and that our natural diet is to be composed of -- you guessed it -- raw foods.

That pov is true, but ~relatively~ true. Yes, it's true that most people's health is compromised by eating processed and denatured foods. But it's a tautology to jump to the " all raw " conceptual conclusion about " right " human diet.

The evidence for that is clear: If eating 100% raw is such a good thing...where are all the people doing it? I don't mean doing it for a few months or years, but doing it consitantly for upwards of 10 years?

In the entire world, how many people have done just that? Probably no more than a dozen. So in the last 20 years that's 1 dozen on one side, 10 billion on the other who do not eat raw.

If 100% raw were really the way for all to go, then we'd have seen evidence of just that by now!

But we haven't, and that's one reason (I'll give you more later) why i think 30-70% raw is a great idea, but the idea of 100% should be taken with a grain of salt. Guest guest
The day I went raw, (Dec. 99) I went from eating cooked food to 100% raw. I have never had secound thoughts about it, I have never been tempted to go back to cooked food. True there are some things I miss, but there are women in my life I also miss. I'm not going back to them either. Why is 100% such a big deal? It was easy for me. I would think it would be easy for anyone.

The idea that something is wrong, because the majority of people don't do it, is a bit ridiculous.

As long as you eat some cooked food, you are not allowing yourself to 'get over' cooked food.

Since all life on earth evolved on 100% raw food, we don't become raw foodists. We simply return to a natural way of eating.

Don't missunderstand me I am not trying to talk you into 100% raw, for each his own. But you seem to be justifying not being 100%. Why not just do what feels good to you?

Doug
