I think so because any addiction is a defense, and quite a good one. So addiction to processed food acts as a defense or buffer between the interior and exterior worlds.

In fact processed food can be a very finely tuned mediator between the inner and the outer, with infinite variations.

Of course, why would one want to put aside one's defenses, when one has spent a life-time developing them?

Well, do you want to look at the sunset or do you want to become the sunset? Do you want to read Paradise Lost or become lost to paradise? Do you want to listen to Mozart or become Mozart?

Do you want to forget the melody, the Pipes of Pan at Dawn?

It's probably best to forget because to experience the interior life in the outer world causes great overwhelming fear, sometimes called awe.

Great fear can only be overcome by great courage, raw courage.

Victor.
