Guest guest
Ok...I admit it...I love dehydrated bananas...a lot...almost as much as I used to love ciggarettes...I used to get these dehydrated bananas from Trader Joes...OMGB...they're so good. However, I recently realized that unless I dehydrate them myself, there's no guarantee that they weren't dehydrated at a high temperature (nothing like the thought of cooked bananas to ruin my cravings:)...So I did it, I broke down and bought a stupid dehydrated....just for bananas...I have this thing about simplicity...but that just went out the window. Now I need help, I want my dehydrated bananas and eat them too...what is the highest temperature that I can dehydrate them without " killing them " ...also, do I store them in the fridge or in the cupboard? How long do they last for?

Thanks,
Mike

P.S. How could anyone live without something sweet? Our bodies crave sugar for a reason...and it's not just because we're all addicted to processed sugar because of years of Apple Jacks and Koolaid...it's because for millins of years our ancestors at sweet things...from tropical fruits and what not. Don't let anyone tell you that you should comsume sweet things...(1) No one should " tell " you what to do....and (2) they're not exactly accurate... Just food for thought:)
Guest guest
Yes dehydrated bananas are dried at high tempratures. They may even be called raw by manufacturers because they have not been cooked (heated above boiling point). I use my dehydrator at below 110 degrees, and usualy keep it around 100 to be sure.

What you say about sweets is true. Eating sweet fruit is compleatly natural. Human breast milk is very sweet. However we are not natural. We have been poluted by years of unnatural cooked food, processed sugar, etc. Estimates run as high as 250 million people in the US have hypoglycemia. Thats almost everyone. I have hypoglycemia. I crave dehydrated bananas, and anything sweet. The differance is, That I CRAVE sweets. When I get them I am ok for maybe an hour, then I CRAVE more.

When I eat a large salad, my stomach is full, but I need somthing sweet after. Hypoglycemia is caused by a pancreas damaged by years of refined sugar abuse. More sugar, raw or not, will not help. So I go for sweets like citrus, even though they are sweet, the vitamin C stops the craving. Some day I will be over this problem (it is getting better) and I believe I will have a natural taste for sugar.

Doug
