Have you heard of Stevia plants? Stevia is a

plant from Paraguay, and is used as a sugar substitute.

In Japan it has already taken over 50% of the sugar

market. I have an article from Just Eat An Apple magazine

written by Barbara Simonsoln, " Even as a raw vegan we can

take advantage of it: we can grow stevia plants on

windowsills, balconies, in gardens, and always have a few

leaves to chew on when a sugar craving overcomes us. The

stivia leaf is 10 to 20 times as sweet as sugar with

zero calories. Stevia is at last a healthy alternative

to sugar and sweeteners for people who are watching

their weight, for diabetics or those with candida.

Stevia is still used today in South America, not only in

teas and recipes, but also prescribed and administered

as a tonic, to improve digestion, harmonize blood

pressure, overcome fatigue and tiredness, loose weight, get

rid of fungus, and normalize the blood sugar levels

of diabetics. Stevia is also recommended in candida

cases, because it does not feed the fungus like other

sweeteners do, and has instead an anti-bacterisl and

anti-fungal effect, which helps control the growth of the

fungus. It tempers the appetite and the addictive

tendency to go for the fatty and unhealthy foods. Stevia

is Known in Brazil as a healing food for diabetes.

Clinical studies have shown that stevea is able to improve

glucose tolerance and lower blood sugar levels. Diabetics

notice more energy and enthusiasm with half a teaspoon

of stevia per day. " Here is a link to get Stevia

Rebaudiana plants on

line;

<a href=http://www.stevianow.com/

(sold out) but if you

email them they will notify you when they get more. Use

the webmaster address. They also have instructions

for growing Stevia. I went to a party and met a guy

who has a plant, I am going to get a cutting from

him, but it will be a long time before I have

cuttings. When I do I'll let you know.

Doug

Doug,
Thank you so much for the information

on Stevia. I was just thinking of looking into it

when I saw it in a health food store. The plant sounds

great since it was expensive for a small bottle. I am

sure a lot of others in the group benefitted from the

information too.
Tammy
