Guest guest
I have noticed that as I get into the third day of this fast, I have become very slow.

I have also noticed that in a small country town, everyone is slow. They walk slow, they talk slow and they think slow. In a regional town they are faster and by the time you get to Sydney, they are running and speaking into their mobiles at the same time.

But the striking thing, in each case: everyone is doing it together. They are slow together, they are middling together and they are fast together.

We conform at the level of speed. And it's quite unconscious.

No wonder we conform at the level of food. The unconscious pressure to eat processed food is irresistible.

That is what is so remarkable about this group. We are going against, what is for most, an overwhelming social force. The force of imitation. Or you might say the trance of imitation. Or the group trance.

They danger for us is that we form our own group trance. All the more strident for being a very small minority.

The opportunity for us is that we can wake up from all group trances and become just ourselves.

The raw food experience can be a pathway to full individuation or, as you might say: growing up. Or it can be a pathway to a new group trance to replace the old.

As we proceed along the path we remember Yeats who said:

" The good lack all conviction, and the worst
are full of passionate intensity " .

That is, those who wish to maintain the group trance are passionate, while those who are moving out into their own unknown individuality are uncertain and tentative.

And yet what a beautiful flower each of you is.

Victor. Guest guest
I must say Victor, your email pleases me. Your fast is clearly a good thing for you. We have argued in the past about raw food lifestyle being no more than just food. I said it was a pathway to a new life... you said it was just food. I am tickled that you are seeing it differnetly now.

I have found that becoming a raw foodist was the fist step toward honoring myself in everything I do. In honoring myself, I am remembering myself. Tearing off the masks, waking up from the trance.
