Guest guest
It was things such as raw foods, vegetarianism/vegism and fasting that got me interested in nutrition in the first.

Back when I was a lacto-ovo I read a bit about nutrition as I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything. I came across fruitarianism which was interesting but extreme/dogmatic. Then I read about raw foodism and found it very interesting. Fasting also struck a note for me.

& gt; & gt;Most of the nutritionists and RDs in this land are a joke.

I agree they are way to conservative and they don't even no it. You now my nutrition book written by numerous nutrition professors/lecturers/dieticians etc says that vegan diets are not recomended in children due to calorie restiction.

& gt; & gt;...you can learn not to try and shove the raw food vegan message down everyone's throat!

A lot of the raw 'gurus' have this problem. You definitely have to tell people information instages. An SAD eater is likely to laugh at you if you tell them to go raw vegan. A better approach would be maybe first encourage them to decrease refined foods and fat(therefore indirectly animal products) and increase raw fruits and vegetables in there diet. Then maybe after there moving in the right direction present them with the evidence supporting a vegetarian diet. If that person was first off told " cooked food is poison and causes all the worlds problems " they would walk away and continue eating junk.

I consider myself an open minded person and am intelligent enough to see through much of the dogma which unfortuneately surrounds the raw food movement. Some people cringe when they hear " animals eat only raw foods " . We need some real science to back up raw foods.

I have learnt what not to be by observing some of the more dogmatic raw foodists. Agressive rawists have shown me how I don't want to come across and I have learnt much from them.

Thank you Jeff I have learnt much from you writings over the last year. You come across as being intelligent as well as openminded and not dogmatic. Your teachings seem as though you have openly considered every possibility and thouroughly researched everything.

I find myself constantly thinking about health, tackling various health topics as I walk around lay inbed even when I'm at a night club. I already have long term plans set out about what I hope to achieve. One of the biggest barriers is getting people to care about there health.

Jeff, if possible and not inconvinient could you email me the most accurate RDA's you know of. I believe you spoke of the WHO's RDA's which where formulated in the context of a largely plant based unrefined diet in an earlier post.

Blake
