Guest guest
Hi almost...,
at first, of food you listed you had for your dinner yesterday only carrot is not acidic, so that's not what will safe you from osteoporosis. Then you felt like somethink sweet, huh? What tahini? Unhulled or hulled? There is a big difference in contain of calcium. Unhulled is richer in it, of course and therefore alkaline whereas hulled is acidic.
Cup of cashews. They are my favorite, but unfortunatelly not raw even if the label says so! But what's more important, you managed whole cup of 'em? Jesus, that's a big portion indeed! Not soaked, I guess. By the way, cashews won't improve your bones' tissue too, too acidic. To summarize, everything you ate was acidic, solving down your bones and sucking up calcium from them...highway to dents decay and osteoporosis. When it comes to indigestion, the cashwes are the main culprit. So you wanna gain weight? Okay, do green leafy salads with some kind of fat (avos are best...) for your dinner, don't forget some sulfur-rich vegie (onion, radish, etc) to help assimilate the fat gradually, slowly. You know what? You'd better look at ECO EATING book and for gaining weight look at RAW POWER.
Tom.
Guest guest
Yes, you are doing somthing wrong. If you want to keep menustrating, and stay fat, you will have to go back on cooked food.

If you can find it, please get the book; Survival Into The 21st Century, by Victoras Kulvinskas. there is a section (pages 168-175) where he talkes about raw food women, stoping menustration. I believe it is also the most inspiring thing I have ever read concerning women. You will feel empowered. This book is out of print, I found a used one through Amazon.com, or try your library, it was a popular book and a lot of copies were printed. If all else fails post an email address and I will scan that section, and email it to you.

I don't remember how long you have been raw, I know you told us once, but when I was about 5 to 6 months raw, my weight reached its bottom. I am 6'1 " and I weighed 130 lbs. My friends wanted to rush me to the hospital. This happens because we carry toxins in our fat cells, our body puts it there because it is the safest place to keep it. When you detox, your body loses the fat, to get rid of the toxins. Once the toxins are gone your weight will return to what is normal for you.

Avocados have more vitamins and minerals than any other fruit. Eat all you want. As for food combining, I eat sweet fruits in the morning vegtables in the afternoon and evening, and avocados all the time. No Problem.

Doug

P.S. I feel exactly the same as you about eating anything from an animal (its not religion Victor) its just plain disgusting. I'm glad you had the guts to say it. Guest guest
& gt; & gt; & gt;Avocados have more vitamins and minerals than any other fruit. Eat all you want.

Avocados are not any more nutrient rich than most other fruits. In fact, except for one or two nutrients, they are not very nutrient dense. As most nutrients are found in the " non fat " portion of the food and since avocados are high in fat, they are therefore low in nutrient density. The more fat in a food, the less nutrient dense it is.

I have posted a quick chart tonite comparing the nutrient level of 100 calories of avocado vs mango, blueberries and pear. As you will clearly see, avocado is NOT a nutrient dense food.

RawFoodsBeginnersAvocado.doc

Also, while they are a good source of mono fat, they are NOT a good source of essential fats.

On a 1500 calorie diet, the RDA for Omega 3 is 1.7 grams. Lets see how avocado does against romaine lettuce.

Here are the aprroximate number from the USDA database

Nutrient / Avocado / Romaine
Calories / ~300 / ~300
Fat (gms) / ~ 29 (~80%) / ~5 (12%)
Omega 3 / .2 / 1.7

So, even as a food that is high in fat, they are NOT a good source of essential fats.

I would not recommend anyone to " eat all they want " of them. At most 1-2 is more then enough and for some of us, may be too much. Most raw fooders need to be encouraged to eat more dark leafy greens which is the MOST nutrient dense food there is.

And anyone should be encouraged to " eat all they want " of them

BE well
Jeff
