Guest guest
Re juicers, with reference to a post earlier that mentioned juice from a Champion juicer being a bit warm. I've heard a lot of good things about Champion, but one or 2 people said that the way it extracts the juice creates heat that may kill some of the enzymes. I use a Champion (paid about $190 on the internet) and am very happy with it after having used an inferior one I paid $125 for. If anyone has an opinion on the enzyme/heat issue, I'd like to know. I find that the the unit gets a little warm, but the juice doesn't get hot or anything and I doubt it's being heated to 106 farenheight; at least the juice is not that warm when you drink it.

Re weight loss, I've found 2 or 3 concepts that allow you to eat as much as you want subject to certain rules. Firstly, almost any serious raw-fooder will tell you that you lose lot's of weight (Men particularly sometimes complain about this). Secondly, there is a science call Trophology or " food combining " that says for optimal digestion you should avoid combining certain incompatible foods at one meal. Most notably do not combine high-protein (e.g. meat) with high-carb (e.g, potatoes, bread, rice) at the same meal. Milk generally should be avoided or consumed by itself. You will lose weight if you follow these guidelines and it's interesting that a raw foodist probably follows this logic (unintentionally) due to the nature of the types of food eaten (e.g. usually no meat). I also think food combining is one of the common denominators here because I personally know that the Atkins diet (as much meat, eggs and cheese as you want but no carbs)works... But it is incompatible with raw foodism so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except maybe a hard-core meat eating addict.

Mallon
Guest guest
I agree w/you about the Champion; I also have used one for 20 years now.

I am currently practicing proper food combining--thanks for the correct term--and am finally losing weight again. As long as I ate improperly the weight stayed on and I had embarrassing digestive problems!!! Watching my intake of high sulfur foods also helps. I found it did no good and wasted money to go to my GP or to a Gastroent. They are into traditional foods and eating plans and medicines. The Gas. told me the raw foods were causing the gas, so unless I was willing to give them up, there was not much to be done.

I seldom eat " regularly " anymore because I can really tell the difference. Last summer from June-Oct, I used the McDougal plan and liked it. However, I love miso and I do better as a incidental vegan than as a declared one. That way I can be lacto-ovo and have some fat if I choose w/o the guilt. I can also eat w/ nonvegetarians more often w/less stress.
