Guest guest
I give my dog raw chicken I get the cheap cuts, which he loves. Its backs, and drum sticks, he eats them bone and all. and for the second course, he gets hamberger. once again the cheapest I can find, with the highest amount of fat, mixed with avocado, and whatever veggies we are avalable. There are some good sites on raw pets, if I stumble accross any of them, again, I will post them.

Doug
Guest guest
Hi, I second Ruth. Dogs are opportunistic carnivores which means their diet should be comprised mostly of raw meat and meaty bones and then some raw grasses, berries, seeds, etc... Look at their jaws and teeth. They do NOT have teeth to masticate (grind) their food like we or cows do. Their food does not get an opportunity to be predigested with saliva enzymes to break down the cellulose level before it hits their digestive tract. (Chewing is a key point in digestion that many of us take for granted and helps alleviate the extra work our digestive system have to endure, it is why so many people are so tired after they eat, because they didn't chew their food properly and left all the work for the digestive system.) Dogs have teeth to bite into their prey, tear the flesh, and crunch it enough to get it down, then their highly acidic digestive system breaks down the ram meat and bones. Vegetables served to dogs need to be food processed to break down the cellulose layer so the nutrients can be absorbed by the body. My dogs eat a raw diet as well which includes meaty bones (chicken back, necks) and local packaged raw food from a company called Halshens. I am a raw vegan. I am better designed to be vegan. My dogs are designed to eat flesh. peace & joy, *Brigitte On Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at 09:32 AM, rawfood wrote: > Message: 11 > Tue, 19 Oct 2004 20:30:12 EDT > coya4321 > Re: raw dog > > > In a message dated 10/19/2004 12:10:46 PM Eastern Standard Time, > rawfood writes: > I am considering feeding my dog a raw vegan diet.
