Guest guest
approached eating from a logical point of view.
1. My goal was a low fat, low protein diet
2. Every diet must have at least one staple (a staple provides enough energy: meat is a staple, as is rice, bread and taro).
3. Vegetables, by themselves, are not a staple. They don't have enough energy to keep you alive. So vegetarians add a staple like rice.
4. However fruit is a staple
5. So all I needed to do was add small amounts of other food to provide the full complement of nutriants.

You see: completely logical, all by numbers. Spock would be proud of me!

What surprised me was the profound physical and psychological effects.

There do seem to be threshholds like when my body turns from acid to alkaline; and more subtly, when my desires change. Overall I've changed from operating from a deficit, from being behind the eight ball, to operating from plenitude.

I have my breakfast in the Fruit Market while I read the newspaper then I write to you. What could be more perfect!
