t's a pleasure to have you join us. Thank you

for your post and questions.

I have a Champion

juicer. It takes me about 5 minutes to clean it but I

don't do a meticulous job. There are only 5 pieces that

need to be cleaned so I rinse under water immediately

after use. I use a sponge and liquid detergent. The

screen is the hardest to clean. I use a vegetable scrub

brush to clean that.

Since you mentioned a

" basket " you probably have the spinning type juicer like

the Acme. I had the Acme for some time but cleaning

the basket was more work especially if you don't use

a paper liner. I used a small rectangular sponge to

fit against the inside wall of the basket. I believe

the Champion and Green Power juicers are generally

accepted as providing a higher quality and quantity of

juice over the spinning type juicers.

I don't

peel my carrots. I use the veg scrub brush under

running water along with some elbow grease. Some people

use soap.. I don't. I use the " bunny love " carrots

and they are very clean to begin with. The Champion

juicer throat is so big that you don't have to cut up

the carrots to fit them in. Occasionally you do but

not very often.

I've heard some people who

take the entire 25 lb. bag of carrots and cut and

clean them all at once -- storing them in plastic

containers until they are ready to juice. With the Green

Power juicer I believe the juice quality is so good

that you can put it in a glass jar with a lid, filling

it all the way to the top, and it will be good for

24-48 hours! That means you only have to prepare and

juice one time for 1 or 2 days. That's a time

saver.

I don't do everything on my list each day. It's a

goal. Lately, I have been good about getting to bed

before 10 PM and getting up with the baby between 5:30

and 6 am. I also am regular with doing morning

exercise -- these days it's the mini-trampoline for 20-30

minutes with a walk in the afternoon pushing the baby

stroller. After my exercise I have my juice. I am very

fortunate that I work from my home... without the commute I

do have more time to spend on other activities...

then again I have the baby! If I was commuting and

working away from home my life style would be more

difficult.

Here's a few tips that come to mind for

everyone.

+Try to do two or more things at the same time. Do you

need food? Do you need to mail a letter? Instead of

driving, walk! Bring the radio with you and catch up on

the news and weather. I live about 1 mile from the

P.O. and food store so it works out

great.

+Prepare your food in batches. My wife went away for a few

days. She made a BIG basic salad and put it in a

container in the fridge. Now I hate cutting up salad and

cleaning each time, but this made it very easy for me. All

I had to do is put some of the prepared salad on a

plate, cut up an apple, toss some sprouts and sprinkle

olive oil and apple cider vinegar on top and I'm all

set for a delicious lunch. It lasted me for 3

days!

Well, Mallon, I hope there is something useful here in

my post to you. And gee thanks for asking me to

explain what I meant by the " Real Truth " in my earlier

post. I'm sure I'll be able to explain that in a

sentence or two. For now, I'm going to delay touching on

that topic until I give it more thought and have the

time to do it justice.

-OrionsDad
