Guest guest
Lynn: I grew up in the American south and I never heard of such a thing as " bait dogs " used as decoys for alligators. First of all, unlike crocodiles, North American alligators seldom attack human beings and they certainly don't attack people in boats. Most attacks by alligators on humans seem to be cases of mistaken identity. Alligators commonly attack dogs, and that is one of the reasons alligators are disliked. The story you have heard sounds like a hoax, perhaps perpetrated by the same people who brought us the " Bonzai kitten " hoax. " Bait dogs " are used by dogfighters who use them to train their fighting pit bulls to kill. Often the " bait dogs " are other pitbulls who are too unaggressive to fight and are thus treated mercilessly by their handlers, or the " bait dogs " are stolen pets. Cats and kittens are used as " bait " in fighting dog training also. Dogfighting is a very great evil, and it is increasing in popularity throughout the world. You can read articles about dogfighting at our website. --Kim Bartlett, publisher of ANIMAL PEOPLE Newspaper www.animalpeoplenews.org >Envelope-to: anpeople >X-eGroups-Return: >sentto-2427673-4515-1086649688-anpeople=whidbey.com >X-Sender: averyl >X-Apparently-aapn >Texas_Dogs <texas_dogs >, > Pet-Rescue <pet-rescue >, K9health <k9health >, > ida-alerts-owner , DogHolocaust , > ArmackAB, Animal-Life <animal-life >, > aapn >X-Priority: 3 >X-eGroups-Remote-IP: 24.71.223.10 >Lynn <averyl >X--Profile: mindi_ca >Mailing-List: list aapn ; contact aapn-owner >Delivered-mailing list aapn >List-Un: <aapn- > >Mon, 07 Jun 2004 15:48:42 -0700 > Bait Dogs > >A very sad tale came across my desk a few days ago, but I have been >unable to find any information regarding this.
