Guest guest
Friday December 2, 2005 - The Star Better for dog group to look at Singapore I AM appalled by the move to look towards China for advice on dog handling simply because most dog owners in Malaysia are Chinese, " Seeking to check dog nuisance " (The Star, Dec 1). The Committee Against Nuisance of Neighbourhood Dogs for Peninsular Malaysia should realise the Chinese are different in many aspects from Malaysians of Chinese descent. I would suggest it pick a country that is closer to Malaysia's multi-ethic culture to conduct its study on the impact of dogs to the environment and health. For this, I think Singapore would be a good option. In Singapore, dogs are allowed to blend into the society harmoniously and owners are held responsible should their dogs become a nuisance. Their system has worked very well. TAN AI KUN, Kuala Lumpur.
