rescue of stray cows from Municipalty pounds by PFA volunteers

A week back around eleven cows,calves and bulls were rescued from a local cow

pound of Guwahati city, Assam, by a group of volunteers of the org. People For

Animals ,Guwahati , , the pound handed over to a private party, Pradeep Goswami

and akub Ali by the Guwahati Municipality, violating all the ruiles passed by

the Cattle Protection Act, 1994,(the act says that no cow (stray) can be kept in

conditions violating the conditions that should follow the rules of the Goasalas

)the Act says all stray cows handed over to a local Non Government organisation,

working for desttute animals. The cows were without food, shelter and water for

several days , some pregnant cows died vomiting blood and some died during

transportation with broken legs etc.there is a rule that no pregnant cows ,

milking cows and hifer calves and ordinary calves cannot be lifted at all. After

seven days of unlimited torture ,tied to the posts with so short ropes that make

movement impossible, these animals are sold

off to butchers , giving it a name of auction, whereas there is no such

Municipal rule or law that permits a person to sell off a stray cow without

prior notice ,because it may have an owner to free it.Please help s stop such
