Guest guest
I currently live in Xiangtan, a small city near Changsha, the capital of Hunan province in China, and I recently visited the city zoo. I was disturbed by the poor conditions of the zoo. Animal cages were on the whole small concrete cells with no grass or room to roam. Food and water also seemed to be lacking or mixed with garbage and/or animal waste. Also of concern was that many animals we would consider to be pack animals, lions, wolves, etc., were kept in their concrete blocks alone (the zoo had one lone wolf, one tiger and one lion). This zoo is very small and on a Saturday afternoon had less than a handful of patrons. I'm not sure what if anything can be done about this zoo or others. I'm interested in any feedback. mko
