Department deputy director Sabaruddin Mat Kari said a 54-year-old man was also detained. He said the man was believed to be waiting for a potential buyer to arrive. The 10 armadillos are worth about RM2,200. " The man, who had a licence to catch certain species of snakes, will be charged under Section 64(1) of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 which carries a maximum RM5,000 fine, three years' jail or both upon conviction, " he said. Sabaruddin said an Indonesian man in his thirties was also detained at a house nearby for keeping a python, which like the armadillos, was classified as a protected species.
