Guest guest
Dear Sirs, We have just heard that " Dog Meat Sanitation Management Policy Report " is finished and from now on consumption of dogs and cats as food will be totally legal. Whereas in several countries in your area are carried out efforts to stop pets' consumption regarding it as a brutal amd inhumane practice, your country proceeds to this unacceptable act. Cats and dogs are widely regarded as companion animals, " human' best friends " in other words. When there are so many other animals used for food, it is totally unnecessary to treat human's best friends as such. Moreover it is worldwide known that the methods used to kill those animals are totally barbaric. And the excuse for all these is always tradition. Well, as a human being and not only as a European citizen, I can't understand what kind of tradition approves torturing and murdering helpless, innocent animals in the most painful way just because some people don't want to change their " habits " (if murdering a helpless animal can be consideres as just a " habit " ). The issue for me is not if the slaughter conditions are sanitary and proper but the slaughter itself. It is really a shame that in a modern world where more and more people start to conceive the value and neccessity of respect towards animals and other forms of life since they are our roomates on this planet and not our toys or slaves, your country refuses to participate in any effort to make this world more humane and tolerant for all of us, humans and animals. Sincerely yours, Maria Nika, Greece
