Guest guest
Dear European Members of the AAPN List and Friends of Animals Asia, On October 13th, 2005, Members of the European Parliament invited Animals Asia Founder and CEO Jill Robinson to attend a press launch in Brussels calling for an end to bear farming. MEPs launched a Written Declaration calling upon the Chinese authorities to end bear farming in China forever. For this declaration to become European Union policy it needs to receive the support of over 367 MEPs across Europe. There are 780 MEPs across Europe, so we need to get the backing of over half of them. Once we have this, the President of the European Parliament will write to the Chinese Government calling for an end to bear farming in China. We therefore desperately need you to help us lobby your MEPs to ensure that they sign the declaration before the cut off date of the 26th December 2005! To easily find the name and address of your local MEPs please click on the link: UK ONLY: http://www.europarl.org.uk/uk_meps/MembersMain.htm OR click on http://www.writetothem.com/ Type in your post code and you will be shown a list of MEPs for your area - you can then automatically send them your message. REST OF EUROPE: http://www.europarl.eu.int/members/public.do?language=en WHAT TO ASK: Simply ask your MEP to sign the declaration 0052/2005 on 'rising international concern over the farming of bear bile in China' issued by MEPs - David Martin, Paulo Casaca, Peter Skinner, Terence Wynn and Robert Evans on 26th September 2005. A sample letter follows below, but you may of course feel free to write your own! This is a golden opportunity to help the bears! Please write as soon as possible and please forward this email onto as many people as possible - together we can end bear farming in China forever! If you would like more information on bear farming or the China Bear Rescue, please visit the Animals Asia website www.animalsasia.org, and please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have. Best wishes, Dave Neale UK Director Animals Asia Foundation www.animalsasia.org
