Guest guest
Monday October 24, 2005 - New straits times Letters Tighten enforcement to save tigers ILLEGAL poaching has been a problem in Malaysia and yet we still let poachers off with a light sentence. With so few tigers left and a shrinking natural habitat, tougher action is needed against poachers. We all cheered when tiger cub Nicky was saved from the cooking pot. But how many Nickys out there are never accounted for? It is sad to think that one day there will be no more tigers in our jungles, only in zoos. Preserving wildlife may not be the main agenda in our nation but we should tighten enforcement in this area. The best weapon in the combat against the wildlife trade is education and awareness. Stop it at the source and we will nip it in the bud. Like it's said " once the buying stops so will the killing. " KERVIN, Kota Kinabalu.
