Guest guest
What is Japan Dolphin Day anyhow? There has been some confusion as to what Japan Dolphin Day really is. I would like to try to set the record straight, so please let me explain. Japan Dolphin Day is a protest that takes place on one specific date worldwide. We are protesting the largest dolphin slaughter in the world. The protest will take place in front of Japanese embassies and Consulate General offices on October 8th. We are hoping to make this the biggest protest ever against the dolphin slaughter. The Japanese embassies must report to government officials in Tokyo. They report anything and everything that relates to Japan. If we can all unite for a few hours one day of the year and gather in front of Japanese embassies worldwide, this will be reported to the decision makers in Tokyo. Our message is loud and clear: Stop the dolphin slaughter. We have one week to go. We still have time to make phone calls to friends and relatives and ask them to join us. If we can get 100,000 protesters in front of the embassies on October 8th, we might be able to reach a " tipping point. " What is a tipping point? a.. A tipping point is that one dramatic moment in an epidemic when everything can change all at once. a.. It's the moment of critical mass, the threshold, the boiling point, a place where the unexpected becomes expected, where radical change is more than possibility. And this has been the intention with Japan Dolphin Day all along: To create a tipping point through our united, simultaneous, global voice for the dolphins on October 8th. But in order to be successful, we must all do this together at the same time. We may actually be able to have an affect on the permitting process in Tokyo. But only if we can get enough protesters to show up at the Japanese embassies on this day. Some of our colleagues and friends are doing other events, at different times and at different places. This is a good thing. Anything that anyone can do to bring attention to the dolphin slaughter is a good thing and needs to be encouraged. However, please don't confuse these other events with Japan Dolphin Day, which specifically takes place on October 8th in the form of a protest at a Japanese embassy or Consulate. Please show up at a Japanese embassy near you on October 8th in our effort to create one strong global voice against the massacre of dolphins.
