Guest guest
Monday September 12, 2005 - The Star Dogs give man their absolute loyalty and love I CANNOT but agree with Dr Jon S. Satyamoorthy about the symbiotic relationship that we, human beings, share with animals be it a cat or a dog or any other animal, “Touching tale proves the worth of pet dogs”, (The Star, Sept 7). My part-time Chinese maid met with an accident recently and was badly injured in the face and legs. She opted to rest and recuperate in my house. She does not like dogs and wants nothing to do with them. While my husband and I were at work (during the two weeks she was resting), she was left alone with TaSha my pet dog, a Boston Terrier. Though TaSha knows my maid does not like her, she sat by her bedside watching over her. When my maid limped to the rest room, TaSha would follow and wait by her side. When she limped to the hall to watch TV, TaSha would follow and sit on the chair beside her. When my maid related this story to me, I was so touched. Dogs do not harbour grudge or prejudice. To those who do not like dogs, think again. Dogs possess human behavioural traits. Rover, the dog, must have touched his master’s heart in the past to make him give up his suicide bid, “Man gives up suicide bid for love of his dog”, (The Star, Sept 5). Bravo to Rover. Y.C.
